Staying for More Than Coffee
By Yazmin Munoz
My beloved, run free
Like the leaves of a fall tree.
Let your soul seek…
For I know you’re not weak,
Far stronger than black coffee,
Yet even toffee gets soft and bossy.
There’s no one to copy,
Your majestical, dancing body,
Your curls bouncing up and down the lobby.
As we take flight upon the starry night,
Let me confess that traveling around the sun with you,
My belly aches for clues of an Oceanview
Where distant waves keep birds awake.
And after teacake under snowflakes,
With each wave and windbreak,
Let’s profess our days ahead.
Let my love wrap you up,
We’ll be like kittens wearing mittens,
Both quite smitten.
Giggling and glistening,
Even as the rain’s drizzling,
We’ll find warmth in each other’s gaze,
The way to make each other’s day.
Come what may, together, we’ll stay.
