anticipatory grief (pt 2).
09-10-26
Rest’s softness clung tight to my mind admist
the dawn sun blanketing us in its rays.
I found myself unable to resist
admiring my love in the bleary haze.
His skin, soft and warm, bending as he curled,
inviting me close, gentle heat like fire
against my heart. I would forsake the world
for another moment under his pyre.
It soothes me, knowing that as today slows,
evening will come once more, and I will run
to your bed, the moon bringing us repose.
Sleep claims us, limbs knotting into one.
And yet, between us, grief finds its way through.
One day I will wake up cold, without you.
