My Woman

Alden Crowe may have been born in Brazil, but he has lived in Salt Lake City, UT long enough that he should have taken up hiking by now. Instead, he listens to music, gets run over by his children, and tries to name all of his plants. You can follow his career and writings on Instagram @alden_crowe_poetry and Substack @aldencrowe for behind-the-scenes of current projects.

My Woman

She wakes me in the morning,

Afraid I’m sleeping in.

Tells me she loves me,

Shows me making me laugh.

We have late night talks,

And laughs.

Being goofy in bed,

Before love is even made.

She tells me her frustrations,

How traffic is bad,

Slow,

Or taken by a train.

She knows I love the tea.

Tells me all,

Her friends lives are no mystery to me.

The nightly report is needed.

For her love grows.

Cultivated by texts,

And FaceTime.

We grow as one.

Life before us,

And empty roads.

My woman makes me want to love.

And never sleep a day in my life.

She’s all I’ve ever asked for.
