I’m Not Sure He’s Funny Enough
Rosanna Clarke is a psychotherapist who uses poetry to explore the nuances, complexities and contradictions present in humans and relationships. Rosanna explores romance and some of its messier elements, friendship, body image, internalised misogyny, anxiety, self-worth and the sometimes exhausting pursuit of self-improvement. Her poems move between vulnerability and humour, often questioning the impulse to analyse, fix and categorise our experiences rather than simply live them.
I’m Not Sure He’s Funny Enough
I say I'm not sure he's funny enough
But when they make a joke
It's not with them I connect
It's with the blank space in my head
what do I say next
I say I'm not sure he's funny enough
But when he puts on a shirt
Two sizes too small
It's with him
I laugh till I bawl
I say I'm not sure he's funny enough
But when this sentiment
Slips my mind
I notice how around him
I laugh all the time
I say I'm not sure he's funny enough
But it might in fact be me
Who I'm not sure is funny enough
And it's in the echo of his quiet giggle
Where I begin to feel funny enough.
