Bloom & My First Love
Kit Hornbrook is a romance enthusiast. She is currently working on her first novel of a long planned series. When they are not writing at their favorite coffee shop, she’s wandering the shore of the beautiful Lake Superior collecting rocks. As a femme lesbian their idea of love is strongly colored by her deep love of butches and the queer community in general, and hopes to always represent and uplift them in and with their works. Bloom
My petals open slowly,
Cautious against the chill still clinging to the air, But the sun sings a familiar melody,
The song of growth; of renewal;
The song of spring,
Oh how I adore her melody,
It beckons me forth from the ground,
Even my roots praise her name,
Even if they are yet to know with her face, For she is who gives us life,
She is who raises us from the ground,
I reach for her everyday,
Growing closer and closer to her warmth, Simply wishing to bask in her beauty forevermore.
My First Love
I think the moon was my first love;
Like many young sapphics I searched the sky for her every night, For she was a Goddess;
And I her humble devotee,
This love seemed to grow with me overtime,
My eyes always drawn to her,
Maybe that is why I also love the sea so,
Immersing myself in her lover is the closest I can get to her, The waters warm and vast,
I dream of them;
Being surrounded by the sea gazing upon the moon; She is close enough I can almost reach her as I lift my hands, I think I will have many loves in this life,
But she will always be my first,
And quite possibly my greatest.
