Lover’s Praise

Sarah Kincaid is a poetry writer as well as simply, a lover of words. She graduated in 2025 with a BA in Creative Writing where she studied poetry and fiction in the passionate heart of NYC. Lover’s Praise 

You told me in my ear 

that I’m a god when it comes to loving you but I’ve never been religious 

and I’m conceited as much as a fantasy so I asked for another interpretation and you kissed me 

under the Manhattan Bridge 

with the force of lightning 

and I understood how Zeus 

could make that happen 

just from one touch 

and a crease of his brow 

So let’s run away to Williamsburg you and I 

and I’ll show you the world I 

still believe in 

after forgetting 

to dust off the top of my imagination for too long 

that it became stained by each inch of time and now burned into it 

will be the feeling 

of your hands knotting together around me in holy praise 

as I promise a love without gaps.
